Draft Proposal - Chris Cuenca

No doubt the sports industry is big in America. Loyal die hard fans, intensive rivalries between cities and states, and athletes that inspire us with their talent. The media plays a huge part of our sports knowledge. It keeps us informed about the big plays, it creates a sense of urgency to support our beloved teams, and it also creates different opinions of the what goes on in this industry. It creates disagreements amongst fans, it can also create negative influence to viewers on their favorite sports idol. The media is a great medium for enjoying sports outside the field and outside the game. For my final project I will answer this question: How has Social Media benefited Sports Teams and Their Fans?

  1. Hi Chris! There are so many ways you could narrow this topic. You could focus on the technological advancements in TV broadcasts of sports. Or you could look at the decline in popularity of football in recent years as a case study (NFL viewership is down 10% this year). Good luck!

    1. Erin! Yes absolutely I will narrow this topic by talking about the benefits Social Media has had on Sports Teams and Sports Fans. It is relatively much easier to talk about the benefits rather than talk about the negative impact it is/may cause/causing across different sports.

    1. You could also think about taking a look at how social media might replace watching the actual game. I mean it definitely won't replace it but it is interesting how informed someone could be about a sport and barely watch the games on television
